       Project objectives

     The main three project objectives are:

  1. To create an in situ data set of optical properties (inherent and apparent) and concentration of seawater optically significant constituents;
  1. To develop  new bio-optical algorithms for the determination of optically significant seawater constituents for Black Sea environmental monitoring through Earth   observing   systems   (mostly   the   Medium   Resolution   Imaging   Spectrometer (MODIS) onboard the NASA AQUA polar platform);
  1. To generate satellite ocean-color products of the Black Sea freely accessible through web interface.
